IMHO, you should try it. If you can earn enough to fund operations here Great!
If you only earn enough to buy a six pack, well that’s ok too.  Times are getting tough and  I’m sure you could use the extra cash.

Question: If we do have ads here are we then tied to the corporate world, even by proxy?

Nope, but you will need to pay tax on the income  :police:

I guess we would need to adopt a very wait and see attitude on that one.

If it changes the nature of user interactions, and or new 'rules' and or 'restrictions' to appease or please those for whom the advertisements are placed for; then YES.

If nothing changes other than to lighten your burden or remove the cost of maintaining the site; then perhaps NO.

Be your Best

I like to pay for a service I receive. If I get a bit of very helpful information I'll try to return the favour somehow (usually donating time/money makes me feel I've done my bit). These days I'll try and drop a little something into theswamps funds to help keep this site alive.
Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.

I'll just throw this out there as well. If this does get implemented, we don't want someone writing a script to impose clicks that are not happening. I was on a forum where the click-pay advertising was implemented and someone decided to help the raising of funds by creating a script that would intensify the number of clicks to make is profitable. Let's just say the site was dropped from the advertiser and then banned. That forum tried a potentially good thing and then pretty much got blacklisted because someone was "trying to help"...

FYI, this was not meant to be a "fund raiser" thread ( you know I'd never do that ) but I do very much appreciate the donations.

I also appreciate the honest conversation. I'm a long way from making any decisions at this point.

If you need a bit of revenue, than why not? Might even have a few relevant links

I'm sure the adsense would generate some money to begin with, but eventually I don't see people sustaining the clicking on the ads to really generate any money.  I don't see it as a benefit to the swamp one bit.
