Getting error writing/closing file!! Need help!!
« on: June 20, 2008, 08:56:37 AM »
I am getting this error message when I am trying to save this file.  I have tried to recover, wblock, purge audit and now I am stuck.  Can some help me out with this?

opened and saved fine in R2008

one thing a buddy of mine does with problematic files;  download the latest DWGTrueView from Autodesk, and use the DWGConvert feature. Convert it to your current version, but under settings you can check "Fix Errors" <plus some other stuff if you wish>

I will give it a try.  In the mean time, can you repost that file that you opened and saved?

Thank you,

Brad

Is the file open by anyone else? i.e. read only? Did AutoCAD crash previously and leave drawing lock in place?

No one else is using this file.  It did crash and I did a recover, wblock, purge and audit.  The network coonection is not a problem.

Try SaveAs and choose a different file name, if that works then the original file may be locked by AutoCAD

This might suggest that you start a new file, and save it, then insert the problematic file into the new one, and explode it on the way through the door.
Then Save the file.
Then use design center to go rescue your layout tabs from the possessed file that will not save.
Drag those babies in and Save the file.
Now either keep new file name or....Test doing a save as over the bad one, and see if it then will save, close, open and save before getting rid of the Life Pod file.
Be your Best
