I agree w/ CADaver:
If you using Xrefs, never force the LT/color, it will only lead to headaches...One could get away with it on details/stand alone dwgs, (I did)
CAD You also brought back a few memories. Spain, one of guys goes on vacation, Boss needs drawing, Can't find dwg, One week later..What did you name that dwg?..."tequila" (should have seen that coming uh?). Ten years later, I'm still not sure how to spell tequila. At least with the layer by girlfriend names you still found the drawing.  :-D

Easier to draw bylayer.

It is so frustrating when somebody does not draw bylayer. How the hell do you find and change things.

So in a word. NO!!
