Topic: totally lost

Joined today, looks like a good group.  I am a totally new user to Autocad (lots of experience in a different cad package).  Have moved to a new company that uses ADT2007 and just upgraded to Architecture 2008.  I need to get up and running as quick as possible and don't know where to start.  Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.  TIA

Coming from Datacad (v 11).  Have been using it for many years.
I am going to be designing/detailling for now.  Maybe someday I'll attempt more but for now I just need to get up and running as quick as I can.

Just so you know, ADT is a very different program than just plain vanilla AutoCAD.  There's probably more specific help over HERE , but feel free to ask anything you like nearly anywhere you like.  SOMEBODY here will be able to help.

Is Architecture 8 an add-on  (extension) to Autocad or a totally different program?  Should I learn the basics of Autocad first or can I just jump in and start with A8? I'm really new at this and need to know where to start. Are there any books or tutorials that are better than others?

Autodesk just released the latest version of Autocad Architectural Desktop that has been renamed simply to AutoCad Architecture 8. ...


In short; yes the basics of AutoCAD will help. More helpfull will be the getting started guide that ships with it. Get familiar with the Project Navigator workflow, and constructs, then dive into styles and display representation sets.

I am starting to work my way through some of the on-line tutorials and am beginning to figure out some of the basic commands.  I'm still looking for a decent book to help me find commands, work-arounds, etc.
