Anyone out there using TurboCAD that would be willing to convert a .tcw file to dxf for me?  :-)

Send it to me and I'll see if I can.

Thanks for the offer Vinny. I ended up downloading a trial from their website and converting the file myself.

Since the problem has been solved,
I can start chuckling now 'Turbocad'..Seriously who uses that..
I understand you didn't create the file ronjonp, but where did you get it from.

On second thoughts I could be totally out of the loop, Is TurboCad making a comeback?

The last I saw it in any decent display was about 5 years ago or something like that.  Apparently, though, it's made quite a large leap in development since then, and has really taken off... maybe got through some 'growing pains' and hit puberty or something.  I've heard of a number of people using successfully *shrug*

It was received from a "government agency"...they claim to have thousands of these files and don't have the software anymore  :ugly:. I proposed we could translate all their files for $5 a pop.  :lmao:

that is why some of us push for open file formats.

That has been my concern about our CAD for a long time. Though I think AutoDesk will be around for a LONG time.
A number of years ago, one of our managers decided to use 'Amipro' for alot of our docs. Now when looking at OLD job files, they are no longer useable.

So, we are using MS Word - we suspect that Microsoft will be around for awhile.

Open formats would be great!

craigr,

I started out on Amipoo also, because at the time, it was a far better product than MS Word.  I still keep it on my machine so I can read my old files.  The two are totally incompatible, as you know.

I know a couple of revs ago, MS had a 'patch' that you could install into MS Word that would allow you to use the old Ami Pro files. I don't know if it is still available though.
