File-Plot takes a long time

I know very little about Autocad, but support the IT infrastructure for a customer that uses Autocad 2008.

He has two local printers, An Epson D78 A4 and an HP Designjet 500 42" plotter.

From Word or Excel, clicking on File-Print brings up the print menu immediately, but when selecting File-Plot in Autocad, it takes a good 25 seconds to display the equivalent menu.  I've tried the same procedure with existing documents and new documents and the same thing happens.  He has still got Autocad 2007 on this machine too and the problem exists there too.

Is it possible to speed up this menu activation?

Could it be a driver issue?

IIRC, we solved this problem by removing the .pc3 files that were looking for plotters/printers that were no longer on the system.
