Dude, get another reseller.  Ours had the CD's BEFORE we asked for them.
Apparently Autodesk is not making a CD version of the ADT 20008.  Plain ole ACAD yes they are.

Have you ever seen how much "stuff" they put on those discs??  That's WHY they need DVDs.

When we got dvds, I found out when mine installed fine, and the bosses' didn't.  I told him we can just request cds to be sent and he said "nah, I think we'll just buy some dvd/cd drives to replace these and have [IT Consultant] put 'em in."

I can't foresee using these DVD drives for anything but cds... but hey, whatever... their money I guess.
Yeah we look into internal DVD drives.  Cost just under $100 for the 3 drives and the ITwit will install them himself.  However they want me to try this route First.  Personally I think the in the end installing new drives would be the "less headaches" route and the cost is chump change, but like you said it is their money.

Yeah I have.  It is 4 CDs worth to 1 DVD.  2007 ADT is sitting behind me.  I fully understand why Autodesk is doing it but I think a little premature.  however if they did it in 10 years from now there would be somebody thinking that is little premature.  Got to rip the band aid off sometime.  :-)

Installing from any network drive is no problem, it may even go faster with a robust network . . . you can even set up a network share on one of the station DVD drives and install everyone from that.

I have about 800+ customers for my autocad related toos I distribute each year.

I went from 4 CD's to 1 DVD this year along with a Web Install option. I prefer the web due to updates being easily available. So far, no complaints (at least that get back to me).

Quite a savings for our company also.

The Pioneer drives are pretty nice. They are quite fast, dependable, about 60 bucks each, and burn dual layer DVD at 4X the last time I bought a couple.

If you have a DVD drive somewhere you can always image the disk too. There are several free utilities out there that will create an iso, mds or bin. Even many cd/dvd burnig apps can image it. Then there are several different ways to transfer it to the machines. If you actually put the image on the hard drive you can mount it with one of many virtual cd/dvd rom driver apps, such as Alcohol or Daemon tool. The demo of those is like 30 days and fully functional.

That is the only way I distribute our software. No sales tax for the customer to pay. I still have taxes, but it sure helps their bottom line.

In the DVD package there is a small leaflet and on the first page at the top it
says "Send help" and the first paragraph states "To receive a copy of your Autodesk
software in CD media format, visit 'www.autodeskmediarequest.com'

Hope this helps.....I just used it and printed out confirmation

Have that same leaflet too.  That is the door prise, everyone gets one weather it works or not.

That was the first route that I took thru the reseller.  No go for Arch 2008.

If you can't do a network install then fire whomever is in charge of your cad system and or network!

Dino already told you what to do.  Put the DVD in a DVD drive and copy the files to a folder on your server.  You can then map that folder to a drive letter and share it across your network.  Then all you have to do is run it from each workstation or script it if you know how.  They are still single installs even though they are coming from a network server.

This is what we do at our office and it installs much faster than reading from the DVD drives.

Thanks Dino & Whdjr,
Margarita from Autodesk mention that I would have to copy the DVD drivers to the non-DVD machines.  Seems I would not need that but hey I dont know and that is why I am asking.

:? :?
I guess that would be me and sort of the whole office becuase it everybody has responsibility for a portion of the network.  However mostly me since I volunteered to get everybody's install consistent for ADT 2007.  As I have mention before numerous times on this forum, I know very very little outside of Autocad and that includes installs and networking.  That is why I come here and be a PITB.
