from what I understand autodesk sent out DVDs of their software this time around, and you have to make a special request to get CD versions of it.

Yeah I went to the website and it said I had invalid part number.

You would have think the reseller would have been on top of this.

On the phone with Autodesk @ 2:47pm est Currently all customer care advocates are busy with other customers

yea, I saw similar complaints on the Autodesk discussion boards about the invalid part number.  Seems like a large problem.  I've never had a problem using my part number though, such as when ordering the free books (don't forget to do so... you paid for them, may as well order those free bad boys.  http://autodeskbookrequest.com/autodesk/ )

Hope you get through soon.

3:04pm est = "Hello Mr Krush, ah ... ah  .... ah .... there is a rumor that there is a workaround.  Can I call you back after I check with Tech support."
This all from a girl name Margarita.  At least she sounded cute, not very bright but sounded cute.

Talked with IT Wit.  After his tirade is over about Autodesk being a bunch of ninnies, we come up with, just buy (3) internal DVD readers and be done with.  The machines have the horses but just have CD readers.   Until they come and installed another week or so with no 2008.

Can some one create an emotion icon smiley beating Autodesk with a baseball bat.   :pissed: :pissed:

You've obviously never had the "pleasure" of installing ABS.

Apparently Autodesk is not making a CD version of the ADT 20008.  Plain ole ACAD yes they are.
I guess we archies are just not special enough.  :-)

Yeah 6 of our 9 stations has DVD readers.  the Other 3 (one of them being me) has CD readers.

Margarita from Autodesk called back (i was shocked) and stated that I can copy the contents of the CD onto the server and then install DVD drivers onto the 3 machines and then run the install from there.  Has anybody done this before?  Any hazards to take into account before jump into this.  The lousy part is that i am going to have copy the contents 3 times becuase All three of these are on different serial numbers.  I check into getting our 4 serial(s) into one serial number that can be done before the product has shipped.  Too late for 2008 since it is sitting behind me.  So I am in the process of getting that done for 2009 release.

When we got dvds, I found out when mine installed fine, and the bosses' didn't.  I told him we can just request cds to be sent and he said "nah, I think we'll just buy some dvd/cd drives to replace these and have [IT Consultant] put 'em in."

I can't foresee using these DVD drives for anything but cds... but hey, whatever... their money I guess.
