XREF Drawing
« on: April 11, 2007, 06:35:39 AM »
Quite new to AutoCAD so have a quick (well hopefully quick) question.
I've received two drawings one of which I've used as and XREF to combine the two drawings into one new one.
I now want to be able to send the new drawing onto someone else.
How can I do this so that they see both parts of the new drawing?

two options, bind the xref.

or send the drawing via etransmit.

Andy,

I know this may seem a stupid question to you but how do you bind the xref

ok, type xr, to take you to the reference manager.

Select the xrefs you wish to bind, then click the bind option on the right hand side.

You then have two options, bind or insert, bind adds a $ to the start of blocks, layers etc, insert converts your xref to a standard block.
personally I use insert.

Might I suggest you do this with a "copy" of the original to preserve the original for your use later.
