I don't have any insider knowledge regarding the question I asked.

Perhaps "insider knowledge" wasn't the most appropriate phrasing.  Sorry to butt in.  My curiosity got the better of me.

...............  Development is proceeding at OpenDCL on SourceForge. Owen is still developing.

As requested, OpenDCL is at :

https://sourceforge.net/projects/opendcl/

May be in Beta testing late next week.

Greetings to all,

As you already know by now,
ObjectDCL has been sold.

It is a fact.

Martin Leduc P.E. and I, Andrea Andreetti,
Are founders of DuctiSOFT inc. and are now owners of all legitimate and legal rights
of this product created by M. Chad Wanless, according to the legal agreement
signed between the two parties.

This transaction is to ensure the survival and proper operation of ObjectDCL.

www.DuctiSOFT.com will be available shortly and will
allow you to download the new official version of ObjectDCL

Thanks again M. Chad Wanless.
Hoping you will enjoy the upcoming version.

Sincerly,

Andrea Andreetti
President DuctiSOFT inc.
Keep smile...

what's the cost?  what if you have a previous version of ObjectDCL?  what is the anticipated service life?  new features?  palettes?  will you be taking suggestions for additional features?

Riddle me this?  Why would someone buy ObjectDCL when, as I understand it, OpenDCL is coming along great as an Opensource project?

Just inquiring about the future of object DCL, features, etc..

Thanks

So ObjectDCL was released under the GPL when the author became ill. Someone purchased the code to--presumably--sell updated copies. But since the code was released under the GPL a branch of the code has been released under the name of OpenDCL?!

Which one are [you] going with?

Please, don't worry all...

Lot of work was done on ObjectDCL to be more stable.
New feature will be add...and YES for sure...we take all suggestions for future versions.

Why bying ODCL ?...by respect of Chad first and continue his good work.

second, Opensource can be modified by anyone....expert or novice.
so was afraid about the final result and support.

third, I think on honest people who bought a licence of ObjectDCL an was opensource the day after.

Now, Let me introduce you my friend.
Martin Leduc P.E.: specialist programmer engineer.
he made ObjectDCL compatible 2007 many week before all.

I work with ObjectDCL since his first version.
All my work was made with it.

OBjectDCL must stay ALIVE and FUNCTIONAL.

We promise doing our best to not disapoint all of you,....
and to make proud Chad Wanless.

sincerely.
Keep smile...

In responce to the message on source forge:
What a crock!!! You cant un-GPL code! Once its realesed under the GPL (gnu) if you re-release modified code, you have to make the source availible to the public.

Would someone mind explaining what is going on. I'm quite confused at this point. Why are there now OpenDCL and ObectDCL? What did Andrea pay for, the code?

thanks

well, it all comes down to enforcement doesn't it?  who's going to make ductsoft  make their source available open source?  If ductsoft provides a palette - well then do I pay for it - or do i sue them for it??  Bill? . . . AutoDESK?
