Rendering in ACAD
« on: October 27, 2006, 01:46:19 PM »
I know a lot of you guys and gals are excellent coders, but what do you know about rendering??!?

I'm getting my feet wet with rendering (AutoCAD only; no VIZ) and I've got a test file that I'm messing around with; trying out different materials, colors, etc...

This one file I have doesn't seem to want to render the walls completely.  The CMUs are partially rendered then it's as if they just fade out (see attached image - walls on left and right).

Anyone got any ideas what might be wrong or what I might try to correct this?

Thanks in advance, swampers!

Is it because of the lighting?

I don't see how it could be.  Look at the wall on the left: You can see the individual CMUs on the lower half.  Now look at the wall on the right: You can't see the CMUs on the bottom of the wall, but you can see them at the top.

I'm not sure what's going on!

Did you change your anti-aliasing to high?

I have it set to medium and the render type is Photo Raytrace.  Should I be using Photo Real instead (as a standard operating procedure)??!?

I'd set it to high and use photo real.  I believe photo raytrace only affects transparent items...

I might suggest that you investigate the material mapping and scaling parameters.
I also wonder are those faces 'normal' to the camera view? And isn't there a setting
in there (under Render) to force objects to be 2 sided, or am I imprinting another package onto ACAD?
Be your Best

I'm gonna try some different settings and let the computer run over the weekend.  See what happens.
