An Introduction
« on: August 25, 2006, 11:30:26 AM »
Anyone who knows me already knows my MO - I tend to sneak in while no one is looking and eventually jump into the water with both feet and try not to make too big of a splash.... :-D

Anyway, I got a message just after I signed up this morning asking me to tell people a little 'bout me.   I hope I can be helpful to some, but mostly hope to learn, too.

My name (as if you can't figure that out over there...) is Jason Hickey.    I am a Civil Applications Engineer for ALACAD (http://www.alacad.com), and was the author is Beneath The Lines (http://beneaththelines.blogspot.com) before I became a contributor to Civil3D.com, where I co-author with such rockstars as James Wedding, Nick Zeeben, and Dana Probert.   I teach, support, and implement Civil 3D, which is where my heart is at right now.

Anyway, that's it for me.    On a personal level, I have a wife and kid, 3 dogs, and a VW Jetta.    Oh, and when I'm not a software geek, I'm a Firefighter/EMT (what a hobby....)

Michael, did I miss anything?   8-)

Well done Jason. You unwittingly stumbled upon the unofficial swamp mantra --

"I hope I can be helpful to some, but mostly hope to learn, too".

Which in its slightly more complete form is something like --

"I enjoy helping folks, sharing resources, learning, a good laugh and the company of good friends".

Well we have certainly seen an increase in the Civil 3D Knowledge Base at TheSwamp over the last few days!  Now all we need are some more people actually trying to work with it on a regular basis and this place could get real busy fielding all of the questions.  Welcome Jason, I know Dana and Nick are also members although they have made very little noise as yet (and they my take that as a string hint).  I am looking forward to having you all share your perspectives in working with Civil 3D.

My post count now exceeds yours Jason.
Of course my content is just drivel and you tend to answer real questions, but what the heck.

I am around, actually back might be a better word.  I was trolling awhile back, but this place had slipped my memory till this afternoon, even though I think I sent James over here myself one nite on IM.  And we can blame him for the rest of the party crashers.  Can I get this fed into my news reader?  If not I will have to go hunting for some rss options I like better.
Tons of fun and more to come.
