I think the drivers should work OK independent of each other if they are on different machines.  They would probably be ok if they were installed on the same machine with different names.

What is your operating system?  If it is XP, you can set a system restore point prior to updating the driver - if there is a problem system restore will take you back to your current configuration.

Dont have admin rights.Im more concerned about screwing the main driver for the plotter, but as Im gathering there isnt one main driver, each user has their own driver on their own PC for that device.Am I correct?

Yes, the drivers are installed on each computer for each plotter configured on it.

I have looked a bit closer at our network plotting.  Each of our printers / plotters is configured on our server with the appropriate drivers.  Our pc3 files use the driver on the individual workstation but point to the device configured on the server.  This sends the plot to the server which spools it to the plotter thus freeing up your system as soon as the plot is sent to the server.

I think you should be able to install the new driver on your machine and still keep access to the old driver by giving them different names.

Bummer, with LDT and Civil 3D we each need full admin rights to perform normal functions so that is not an issue for us.
