LT2005 - Printing Differences
« on: November 30, 2005, 02:51:47 PM »
A few months ago, we upgraded from AutoCad LT98 to LT2005.

If you print the SAME DWG on the same printer from LT98 then again from LT2005, in LT98, the single lines & text are easier to see because the lines are thicker, (I used a Printer's Magnifier' to see this difference.

Is this 'lineweight' setting in AutoCad or a printer driver setting?

I thought about adjusting lineweights, but that won't take care of the text.

The  model of our main printer is the Canon iR5020/iR6020 PCL6 printer. - But it does this on the other printers also.

Thanks in advance,

Sounds like your pen table needs tweaking.

I went to 'Tools/options/plot & Publish' I then clicked on the 'plot style table settings' button. I then selected the .ctb file I want to load, then edited the settings.

I went to the pen table settings and changed the line weights from .2540, (which is the setting from LT98), to 1.0, 2.0 & 4.0 - None of these changes made any difference in the plot.

So, I'm obviously missing something somewhere.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Are you selecting the pen table when you plot?  Sorry for that one, I know it's basic and obvious but basic and obvious is usually where I screw up.

If you can't find where to set the pen table, then your plot dialog looks something like this.  If so, click the > button in the bottom right corner.

Is the "plot with plotstyles" box checked in Plot Options?

No I wasn't.

So, I found where you are talking about and loaded the LT98 settings .ctb & it made no difference.

I guess I thought that if I made the changes in the 'options' area, it would be the default & not need to be specified.

The 'plot with plotstyles' is checked.

I also tried changing teh Quality from 'Normal' to 'Maximum' - no difference.

This is about the last thing I have that could be affecting it.  At the bottom of the plot scale section, if scale lineweights is selected, unselect it.  If that isn't it, I'm lost.

'Scale Lineweights' is not selected.

I went into 'layers' and changed the global linetype to 4. THIS did it! All lines but plines & Text were drastically thicker.

Since it didn't affect the text, I'm guessing that adjusting 'lineweight' is not the answer.

Perhaps I need to look towards the printer driver. I will explore that direction.

Thanks for your suggestions though,
