road assembly adding lane width in some spots
« on: August 26, 2010, 11:38:10 AM »
I have an assembly that I use in several different locations. I am using basic lane. In the properties of the lane, I set 14' width, in some places it was making 16' wide lane, in others it was making a 14' wide lane.

Any ideas why?

only seems to take place in between two different assemblies. I have been leaving a "buffer" between the different assemblies. Oh yeah, All the assemblies have the same lane width, so it seems like it would hold all the way through.

From looking at the file you sent me yesterday there are some things I would teach you in class that would make all of your corridor modeling so much easier to deal with.
I'm willing to bet those tips will not be discussed....they are too easy to get get left out in the babble over styles that you will be exposed to shortly.

I usually don't do roads, mostly landfills, mines and water storage.

Doesn't matter; the techniques and suggested methods I teach apply to ALL Civil design projects, and survey practice.
I started down this path as an intern in H.S. in 1978 drafting ink on linen.  Over the years, I've worked on quarry's, stream restoration, public, and private road construction/rehabilitation projects, subdivision plating, small site grading and drainage. I've also been out in the field, as a rod/chain man, instrument operator for construction staking and boundary surveys, and GIS applications. I've collected the pitfalls and wisdom of others, and rolled all of that as much as is practicable into every portion of the Civil 3D class presentations I provide.

In short; my methods would still make your job easier to perform, and easier to troubleshoot when something does go awry.
Heck even your most senior Engineers could adopt these practices and have functional mastery of C3D within one week.
