CR5 files or TXT files Viewer / Plotter Viewer
« on: November 03, 2004, 09:24:46 PM »
Does anyone know a "quick view" for either CR5 files or TXT files with Point #, North, East, Elev, Descr.

For example. I would open the program.. then open a TXT file, then it would plot all the points quickly in the window so you can see what points are what...

Most of the time... it takes forever to open a project in LD. Just tryin to think of quick ways to view our data we shot....

THanks!

Explorer? works well for viewing, but if you want the points in a drawing and plot capability, then you have to go through LDD. The thing to look at is why your LDD is slow to open. Mine is slow on opening the first file of the day, but after that it is very fast. Are you loading a ton of custom stuff on start up? If so, look at what yor really need in every drawing and load the other mess as you need it.

Could some post a couple small sample CR5 files?

So you want to read the XYZ values from an ascii file and plot points in modelspace?

all without opening LDD. I can see several ways to view the file, but having the points "appear in the window" without opening Acad is the rub.

I'm used to using the rw5 files. cr5 means your people are running up the data in the field. This has a ton of bad implications.
 (1) If you do not have the RLS who's going to stamp the job on site running up the file, you are headed for big problems.
(2) If all you are getting is the cr5 file, that means you are not using the field book files and the figure prefix library? If so, unload LDD because you aren't using it anyway.
You are not seriously implying that you are drawing via a coordinate file and playing "connect the dots". No descriptor codes, no figure prefix library, no auto line draw capability??
Please tell me that I misunderstand this.
