(AutoCAD LT) Rev Date distance changes
« on: August 04, 2011, 08:52:56 AM »
We have a single Revdate block on our server in our Blocks directory that everyone uses.

One of our CADies workstation now handles the 'Revdate' block differently for some reason.

She has a drawing that 'streches out' the distance between the User    Revdate     FName.

See the attached example.

On other machines it is fine, but on her machine with a long filename, its way to long.

Her machine just started doing this.

Same block, same macro(s).

I have looked for other versions of this block, but this is the only one available on our Server as well as on her local machine.

Any ideas what is happening here?

verify that she is starting with the correct DWT
hit F2 after opening/starting a NEW file and verify that the font/style is NOT being substituted
also very she is using the SAME named page setup

This is the SAME drawing that the 'Revdate' command behaves differently on two workstations.

Typically, there is no issue with this happening.

Just for grins & giggles, I used her workstation and opened a different drawing from a totally different project and a couple of pages do the same thing!

So, I went back to a diferent project she did on 7/29 and every page of 44 pages is fine. The project she is working on was fine until after lunch, now it is doing the same thing - wider spaces.

I would think it would be something in HER CAD settings that is doing it, since it if fine on my machine. She says she has made no changes - (She wouldn't know how to).

I am at a loss.

Reboot the computer?  Make sure she has the ARIAL font installed correctly?

Done and Done.

Whenever we have Computer problems, ReBoot is always the first step.

Font(s) are fine.

Thanks anyway.

Exactly.

In fact EVERY drawing is fine on mine. Hers seems to be random. Some dwgs are fine others have the problem.

One macro is the typical that comes with CAD.

Here is the modified one that replaces an OLD Revdate with a new Modified one. -

^C^C_oleframe;0;draworder;all;;f;oleframe;2;^C^C_-osnap;off;_z;extents;^C^C_-layer;unlock;title_block;;_line;15.9,6.815;15.9,.65;;_erase;16,9.8;15.7,.25;;^C^C^_-layer;n;tb_text;m;tb_text;;-PURGE;a;;n;_-PURGE;a;;n;_-PURGE;a;;n;_-insert;revdate;15.76,0;;;90;_revdate;-layer;m;0;;^C^C_z;extents;-layer;lock;title_block;;

The newer version of the Revdate has the entities moved a little closer to each other. Her problem seems to use the original. BUT, I have search her machine as well as our server for another Revdate Block and found only the one we are supposed to use.

save and export the cad profile *.ARG file from your machine
Import and set it current on hers
this is a long shot however...it's an odd problem

Cad Profile .ARG ???

Where would I find that? I've never heard of such a thing.

Is that the file that holds my custom settings from the 'Options' area?

I'm out of ideas.  I was hoping the macro was reading some odd system variable, but alas, 'tis not.   :|

The odd system Variable is what I am leaning towards.

Now it's just a matter of which one would affect only certain drawings.
