Hi everyone,
this problem is sort of tricky and hard to explain. I will do my best.
I have a drawing from a client with their colortables.
When I open their drawing and use their colortable to plot to our
Xerox 8830, only about 8 of the 255 colors will plot. I used their colortable and plotted a file with all 255 colors.
if I change to the default monochrome color table that comes with AutoCad, all the colors will print.
All the color's map to a pen that plots.
What is tricky is that we have 2 versions of plot drivers for our 8830.
one is a Non-system Driver-XESystems, Inc. XES Synergix 8830
using a xes7.hdi version 4.1.00-7.1.15.30[k015-1] this won't print.
our other driver is: Non-System Driver - Xerox Engineering Systems-XES 8830 using a xes7.hdi version 4.1.00-7.1.15.30[K015-1]
If I use their file, their colortable with the first plotter driver only 8/255 colors will plot. If I use their file, their colortable with the second plotter driver 255/255 colors will plot. If I use their file with the default monochrome.ctb file and the first plotter driver 255/255 color will print.
The file is ok. I don't know if I need to be looking at a colortable problem
or a plotter driver problem?
Thanks

I once found that a ctb I upated in 2002 would not work with 2000. I had to recreate the file for use with 2000. Maybe something like this could be your problem?

There ya go.... if'n the plot style had been by LINEWEIGHT he woulda not been having this problem ....
Incedently I had the same problem with an HP, no ACI colors greater than 8 would plot. That is one reason why I use lineweight.

I will take sometime this weekend and re-create our
clients ctb files... I guess I will try one and if it works
there is my problem.
Thanks guys!

Part of the reason we use color dependant styles is that we have so many interlinking & crosing services it would be awful to try and decifer on screen between them using lineweights. It's critical that we dont confuse a service or peice of equipment.Maybe I'm jst biased but lineweights just dont seem to be as good.

Ok Daron & Keith,
the CTB file didn't do it. I opened the old one & started a new one from
scratch. Placed them side by side and edited the specific's for each color.
None of this makes sense...
Plot the files with the monochrome.ctb and it works... :x

I have tried playing with the plotter drivers and have found updated plot drivers for this particular plotter.
The only one that I can get to work are system printers which don't even use a hdi plot driver rather a gdi...
I am so confused...

So, it turns out that dither needs to be "on" the stb's i had from clients only had some colors with dither on or they were all off.
So, i can plot but there is some talk in the help files about wipeoouts not being able to work or something like that.
So, that might be my next problem :(

Our old plotter turns textmasks and wipeouts and doesn't hide them completely. That's probably going to be the problem you'll have. Xclip on the other hand is a beautiful too, once you master it.
