Maybe it's just my setup. How can you change the value of a variable in *any* of the style dialogs? I can't use tab, arrow keys or enter. The only way to change it is by clicking on it then entering the value, this drives me insane!!

you can do that with keyboard
move your pointer by up or down arrow and hit spacebar
It will jump to value column and change the value by up/down arrow or enter value then press enter.
