Title: BricsCAD
Post by: GDF on September 03, 2017, 08:05:57 PM
I have started using this CAD program, and I really like it so far.

How many users are there in the swamp?

Yo! :)

I use it for development these days and the user base is steadily growing here in Aus. The app store is getting better all the time and some of the better-known acad app's are being ported over as well.

The platinum version has sheet metal, architecture and a constraint based 3d modelling engine (think Inventor) built in, all these disciplines save to dwg!

It starts fast too!

+1

Note: BricsCAD Sheet Metal and BIM require separate licenses on top of a Platinum license.

I jumped from ACAD 2006 to BC16.
Like it so far, love the price, but I miss VLIDE.
So I still crank up ACAD for that.

I will also miss the .vlx files

Why? BricsCAD has DESCoder.exe that can encrypt LSP, DCL and TXT files into a single DES file. AFAIAA a DES file is very similar to a VLX file, although separate-namespace functionality is missing.

The Lisp Developer Support Package in the BricsCAD App Catalog (https://www.bricsys.com/applications/a/?lisp-developer-support-package-%28ldsp%29-a720-al1176) may be of interest.

How do you use vlx-files from others ? I think there is a reason to miss them...

Good question..
Or the other way around. How can one use .Des in AutoCAD
(..probable a simple answer to it, but it will remain food for thoughts..)
