Title: Tekla Open API
Post by: Mark on June 23, 2017, 01:33:51 PM
Anyone here use the Tekla Open API? I've been asked to create a forum specifically for it. I don't have a problem with that if there are enough people interested.

Never heard of it before today.
So folks are using it with AutoCAD?  Why would you use that ILO the more common programming tools?

Never heard of it before,

https://forum.tekla.com/index.php?/forum/268-tekla-structures-developer-forums/

Seems to probably be the best resource as it's locally hosted and it appears to have developers answering questions.

I've known about Tekla for a long time. It was XSteel in a previous incantation.
I have not used it, though I have watched it being used(demonstrated).

Tekla does NOT use AutoCAD. Model files can be converted/translated  and interchanged.

My first thought regarding a specific forum here is negative.

Users will be better served using the forums and support structure provided by Trimble.

TL;DR No :)

I've done a lot of development with the Tekla Open API and as mentioned in a previous post they do have a support forum that's pretty active and has plenty of content.
If you own Tekla and pay for support you also have access to the support centre for your country who are very helpful. If they don't know they pass it higher up the chain for an answer in a timely manner.

While there are a few Tekla users here no doubt, I don't think we have the numbers to make a real difference. If you do though I'd be glad to help out.
