Title: Using CAD text to engrave with a Inc machine.
Post by: Terrya on February 05, 2017, 03:47:36 PM
Hello, I have been trying to integrate CAD text into a Sherwood Inc program with some success, but, not always.  Does anyone know a way? Do you use polylines or just lines? Appreciate any help.   Thanks.

Not sure what that program requires, best bet would be to email the company and inquire. Initial thoughts would be that the machine software uses the lines of text as a toolpath, in which case, line entities might be required.

At the most basic level you could plot to HPGL from SHX (vector) text but AFAIK this won't produce clean arcs so some clean-up might be needed.

Hoping this won't ever be necessary ...

Use Sean's Text to Geometry (http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?90737-Text-To-Geometry-2015-Testing) routine .. it works very well. Quite a bit more accurate that ExpressFools 'TXTEXP'.  :)

Check with the makers of the engraver, but maybe all that is required is a DXFOUT.
