EACH TIME I OPEN AUTOCAD 2000 LATELY, I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE AS FOLLOWS:
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION COOOOOO5 (ACCESS VIOLATION READING 0X61e74210) AT ADDRESS 61E74210h
Anybody know what's going on?
I am using windows 7, 64 bit

More likely than not, bad video card drivers.

or, the OS that's a dozen years newer than the application, (and still gets updates from MS) 'fixed' something in Wondows that 16 year old version of Acad was using

I had cases like this with acad 2002 (W7) and found that once I opened a drawing file from USB flash drive, the next time I had to connect the drive back to USB for AutoCAD to start normally. Then to avoid all this, I had to clean recent files in registry and that fixed the problem for good.

O.K., so what do I look for in the registry? I don't see any dates as far as recent files are concerned. I did
try to locate something that matched the error message. Thanks

This is where I found the Recent File List. Open "Regedit" and find it there. If you suspect that what I described could be your case too, just delete File1 through File9 in that registry, close the Regedit and open AutoCAD. AutoCAD will then generate new file list as you open or save more files.
