It happens once in a while and it doesn't screw up the drawing. It's just odd, and annoying.
Does anyone know what this is, or how to get rid of it?
If I zoom in/out, it stays in the same place.
I'm 99% sure I've only seen it in paperspace layouts, but I could be wrong.
-
I've seen this for years and have never figured out what it is, why it's there, or what triggers it to show up. It doesn't plot so I just ignore it now.
-
I've seen that before. I think it is text. Since you are asking, I'm assuming you cannot select it. Try Ctrl+A and then deselect everything else. That should leave the offending entity selected so you can find out what it is and delete it.
-
It's not text, and there's no way to select it.
If you zoom way out and regen, it will display in a different spot.
Graphically, it looks like something outside of cad.
I've always ignored it. I guess I just thought I'd finally take a moment to ask.

How do you know if you can't select it?
I'm pretty sure I've been able to select it. I am sure I've been able to get rid of it.
Can you post a file that has it?
-
Try QSELECT??
-
erase > all, if still there, list > all ?
-
yeah, post a drawing with it present. I've not encountered it, whatever it is.

You mean "Pennywise"?
-
Well, I was going to post it, but cad crashed, and when I reopened the drawing, pennywise was gone.
-
It's still there unless you run some sort of purge during your startup. It should come and go at different zoom levels.

The purge command runs once at startup, but I purged/audited the drawing multiple times and it never went away.

anyone have a example drawing containing it.

I have this thing at the corner of my drawing, very annoying.

It is one of those anomalies that is not dwg resident, but just shows up sometimes, and others it will not be seen for days/weeks. Not always in the same dwgs. Seeing as Alan and I both use Civil3D, and very few others have reported this, I suspect it is something in that or Map which caused this graphics glitch.
-
I've seen it before and it is persistent. Usually only noticed it when it is a distance away from the body of the drawing. Not using C3D.

Try disabling "High quality geometry" and / or "Smooth line display" under Graphics
-
Have you tried rebooting? Or turning the monitor off/on?
-
might need to completely reinstall windows....
-
Switch to a MAC
-
I bet it's the system32 folder.
