Title: AutoCAD 2017 SP1 warning
Post by: rkmcswain on July 25, 2016, 08:37:03 AM

Jimmy Bergmark (https://twitter.com/jtbworld) from JTB World (http://jtbworld.com), has reported that the just released SP1 for AutoCAD 2017 breaks the functionality of the "plug-in auto loader mechanism". Please make note of this before installing SP1, which is currently only available via the Autodesk Desktop App. References below:

Don't know if it's an internal issue, but none of those links work for me.

Just tested but the auto loader mechanism is not broken here.

Interesting. I wonder if there are some other circumstances at play here?

Ok, a few more tests.

Another computer, just installed SP1 and only 1 of 8 plugins got loaded.
In Civil 3D the plugins get loaded but not in AutoCAD.

As far as I understand the plugins are not loaded if the PackageContents.xml contains this

SeriesMin="R21.0" SeriesMax="R21.0"

If you remove this, the plugin will load but that is not a solution of course. I'll log this bug.

No, it's still available on the Autodesk App.

OOPS, SORRY RON ... I modified instead of quoting ... time for bed.

I was wondering the same thing .. seems odd that you could not get it HERE (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads).

That was second for me.
First was my ADN Subscription interface.

No joy on either .... hence the query

It seems like they are releasing updates, SP, etc. on the app first, then later on the support site. Probably to entice users to start using the app.

Can anyone confirm 'Edit & Continue' being fixed with 2017 SP1?

Yes, E & C now works. And I have found, too, that the bundles I have still load fine with C3D2017.

Autodesk has confirmed that they are aware of the bug and they promise to create a hotfix as soon as possible...

I've got a hotfix prereleased from Autodesk: AutoCAD 2017 App Autoloader Hotfix (http://blog.jtbworld.com/2016/07/autocad-2017-app-autoloader-hotfix.html)

Jimmy - you ninja - I was just about to post this, which led me to your site for this!  Haha

Not sure how you got Autodesk to distribute this to you before posting on their own site, their new Desktop [Cr]App, etc, but thank you nonetheless!
