Title: Possible to convert Volume Surface to Tin Surface?
Post by: nobody on August 11, 2015, 12:50:22 AM
Is there a simple way to convert a volume surface to a tin surface?

export to landxml, and then import?

Why would one need to?

But yes, export LandXML  and import to surface collection.

Thanks cadtag/MJ...nothing really c3d or design related... I can't seem to find a way to access volume surface data using .net so I need to get it in tin or grid form.

What volume surface 'data' are you after?

Hey MJ... the idea is to present color themed cut / fill quantities, but I'm unable to apply them to volume surfaces through .net; I need the surface to be a tin or grid surface to apply the elevation analysis and the proper colors... at least in the way I know how.

why would you not use the onboard analysis tools to do this theming? We do it here for different contractors.
What extra function or value does your DOT......Nyet solution give you?

Why is it not possible to do this via .Net? I wrote a custom Color Scheme editor and am able to apply the themes to Tin Surfaces as well to Tin Volume Surfaces.

I guess Alien will want to post his code so that you can help him 'fix' that part that doesn't work with Volume Surfaces.

In order to get Tin surface from volume surface, you can create a new, empty surface and paste your volume surface into this new surface.
