Anyone know of away to select several parcels and it adds the total value together and show in a dialog box or command line?
-
you after total parcel area or total number of parcels?
-
doesn't matter...either way,
run Parcel Area CSV report, and sum it up in excel...data link the table back into your file.
And have a nice day
-
no no no,..... you have a wonderful day! I was doing it that way. I just did not know if there was a quicker more direct way to get the info then going through all those steps.
-
Alternately
Each block of parcels could have it's own boundary within a different SITE...BEFORE using the parcel sizing tools
The parcels are created in another SITE
The Original Area is or should be equal to parcel area....
Don't know if that helps either?

That's an idea to play around with. Was playing around with the idea to use the parcel labels to quickly label everything to a site. Then I could select the labels I want to add together and be done.
The other way to do it is to have break all the parcels down to there own site(s). then see if we can do a total through the toolspace properties. Again not as quick, but works.

This is a potential 'hack' (I so hate that word these days).
keep parcel boundaries on unique layer....
export to new file
save as AUTOCAD
USE MAP query on that file and let it label your closed polylines with area...
This would give you labels or alternately a report file to sum the areas up
not sure what the actual goal is?

With site plans and so forth we need to easily get areas from hard (pavement) and soft (grass) areas. Instead of the traditional way of tracing everything and listing it. It would be awesome to turn everything into parcels. then pick the label of the areas you want and there is your number. Specially as much as site plans change, its always easier to leverage the parcels to give you instant areas (with labels) ;)

True - with land desktop it was easier...to use polylines on proper layers and then use a map query to get those values.
I rue the day autodesk stopped letting MAP see any objects created by civil 3d...map it would be SOOOOO Much better IF those two tools would work together again.

Actually - THANKS for Poking me to re-think this one.....
IT can be done SO nicely!
Draw parcels
Export them to SDF
use special names
Hardscape
Park
Grass
etc for theming purposes
Open NEW MAP session
Attach to the SDF
Add to MAP and THEME/LABEL as desired...
This can be done in a dynamic fashion using Mapguide and a Datastore...
Thanks for that once more!

I gotta another one for you.

Jeff helped me make a spreadsheet that I could import parcels from Civil3D into. Problem was there needed to be so much customizations to the dwg settings to get it to work. I still use it, but again with the above just looking for a easy way for the labels

The MAP method would be pretty seamless actually...bonus is that it can/will update that MAP file automatically.

your making me think more and more.... You are a mad genius... you know that...

Would this be a useful plugin? I know my office could use it.
