A client-determined title block we are using only has 8 lines, what do you guys do when you need to add a 9th rev?
Do you wipe the previous 8 revisions and hope that anyone reading the drg is savvy enough to not be confused by the fact the drg starts at Rev 9?

I would delete the oldest one. Move the others up and put the new one at the bottom.

Or, depending on the order, delete the oldest one and push the rest down one line. Sometimes clients prefer the newest revision entry at the top of the list. Others just want the oldest revision overwritten.

Look at other drawings from same client and see what has been done before (though it may also have been someone guessing). or Contact and ask the client.

Doesn't mean it is cast in titanium.
Do they want to track revisions or not?
If you are to NOT edit it; then ask them to add that revision field to their stupid block.

that's usually what we do here. maintaining the rev history on the sheets seems like a Good Thing (TM)
to clarify -- we follow FDOT's lead on revisions, which is: it's only a revision _after_ the contract has been let for construction. Any design or drawing changes prior to the contract being signed are not considered revisions. & while it works for us, it wouldn't in the manufacturing world, and probably not very applicable to facility/plant modifications over a span of a decade or more. so far, I've yet to go beyond 6 revisions on a sheet.

I've worked on projects that had revision lists so long that we would have to start reformatting the title block with second column if we did that. For us, there is no value in having a complete running history on the drawings. There are other documents that track that stuff much better.

Shipyard drgs are like this...revs go WAAAYY up!
