Title: "Civil 3D Template with US and International Content Packs"
Post by: Mark on April 08, 2010, 07:38:55 AM
In her post (http://bimontherocks.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/04/get-a-head-start-on-your-civil-3d-template-with-us-and-international-content-packs.html) Dana Probert points us to some of the Civil 3D Templates for various countries and US states, which is very helpful, but if one were to create a C3D template for say, the State of Florida, could you sell it?

Really!!?? Do you have a name Alan? Just curious.

I'm not making a template myself I was just curious if a person could legally sell one.

I went to a lunch meeting a while back for C3D 2010 and several of the FDOT guys were there (can't remember any names) talking about how they're working on several templates (which will be made public). They are wanting to work Civil 3D now.

I think the job link (for FDOT in Tallahassee) Luis posted a while back was for that very thing. I was going to apply for it, but didn't have enough experience.

Mark,

Sure, you could as long as you didn't imply that FDOT had approved it. Alan is correct, FDOT has been working with Autodesk Consulting for over a year now. You should contact the Engineering CADD Sytems Office for more information: http://www.dot.state.fl.us/ecso/ Bruce Dana is the manager there, and is a very sharp guy.

I don't know the current state of the materials they're working on, but I'm sure you can find more from the ESCO folks.

Hope this helps.
