Title: Help with mass elements

I'm working in a drawing that was created by our former CAD manager and he has tied all of the walls together in the drawing, including a mass element he created for an electrical panel. When I try to erase the panels, half of the walls in the drawing get erased also. How can I work with my walls and erase what I need without having other areas disappear also?
