I have access to tiff files of a whole state. I want to know what would be the ideal format to change the tiffs to so i can place them in a dwg by using the image manager.
That way i can xref the quad map into dwgs i need location maps for and other uses. to get info.

These .tif images are scans of the original quad maps? Or are you talking aerials.
-
i am talking quad maps... no aerials... aerials are huge and are in a SID format. but if i can get the quads to SPCS, id be good

I'm doing something similar rigth now only I'm using FEMA maps. My procedure;
1: open new dwg
2: query section lines streets and other topo features for existing dwgs
3: insert image near line work with generic scale.
4: select two points on both the image and the line work which represent the same place geographically.
5: move scale and rotate the image to match line work.
6: discard line work save the dwg.
the image is now positioned realitive to SP in that dwg.
later I'll created a new image that is georeferenced.

here is what i am thinking of.... there are several quads....
have one drawing or 3 dwgs... north, mid, south dwgs...
imagemanager for the quads in the desinate place... save
and be done...
but i am not sure about data base using map

how are you going to relate them to SP?

i am lost on SP. what do you mean
