Anyone know if this has always been around or is it new with 2007?
-
It is very new . . . it may have arrived with 2006 but not before.
-
yeah it was a 2006 feature
-
Thanks! That explains why it's in my CAD 2007 book and won't work in my CAD 2005 program. :ugly: Silly me!

I'm not sure I would call it a feature.

Ditto that, It was on of the first things I disabled
-
I thought it looked annoying. I guess the "floating with the pointer" aspect is supposed to save time looking around the screen?
-
How do you disable it
Drives me nuts!!!!!! :realmad:

I don't have it so here's what my book says...
[F12] toggles on and off as well as picking the DYN button
also...
drafting settings > dynamic input tab > show command prompting and command input near the crosshairs (right click on the DYN button on the status bar) setting determines if it appaears next to the crosshairs. When off use the down arrow key to to show command prompting and inputs.
enable pointer input unchecked allows typing commands at the command line prompt

Cool thanks
We just got 2007 have not been able to look at all the new cool features updating from 2004

Your welcome! All my best to in your upgrade :-)

I use it exclusively. I sent the command line to the side and collapsed it.

How often do you need the command line then? Depending on your expertise of course and understanding it's not all that difficult to hit [F2]. I should also probably consider that I haven't had the chance to use any sort of lisp.
-
I virtually NEVER use the command line anymore. OK, that's not totally true, but I can go days without requiring it. I've been using AutoCAD since 1989, so I'm an "old timer" in it, I loved the command line. But after 3 days with it off I swore I'd never go back to having it on...if you know the commands (and to an extent even if you don't) you simply don't need it.
-
I have to agree. Whenever I need to see it, like for a list or something, I hit F2 anyway

Only when I need a value from a lisp or the list command and I don't get all the info I need on the dynamic values.
