Title: ( C3D '08 ) Pipe bends/joints in profile views
Post by: Guest on November 05, 2007, 01:36:23 PM
What's the best method for creating bends in pipes and showing them in a profile view?

We've got a steam line that isn't a straight shot from one structure to the other.  Is it possible to add pipe joints or bends and show them correctly in a profile view?

add a structure to your part catolog with part builder, or use standard part and insert a block in the structure style for that stucture in question

use multiple pipe segments along the alignment with pipes connecting at the point of bends and adjust in the profile view.

Multiple pipes, huh?  Do the vertices show up "filleted" in the profile view?

not exactly, they show up 'projected' or 'skewed' as the pipe segment is not parallel to the source of the profile.

One might be better served to draw the pipe run, and then create an alignment and profile for it from the Pipes>>Utilities menu.

Or see above regarding adding a structure, structure display style to show your fittings, or just use dumb cad lines to indicate them.
