I'm no 3D person but .... how about a 3D model of the earth, with the continents .... to scale?

Did that with AutoCad V.11 w/AME, to scale even. Broke out the encyclopedias and everything. But that was a loooong time ago in a computer far far away... ...wish I still had it.

Sounds like a job for Google Earth and C3D. Also sounds like it'd be a FREAKIN' HUGE FILE!!

I wish I still had a running copy of 3dsmax on my comp. You can flat image files and map them to a sphere.

ahhhh, I'm taken back to the days of Autocad Release 3.0, they included a full scale drawing of Our Solar system in the sample drawings, and IF you knew where to look (The Sea Of Tranquility) the Lunar Lander was sitting there along with a plaque.......

I think thats where I got the idea to draw my own in the 90's. Someone told me about that, and I looked for it, couldn't find it, so I created it.

AutoCAD comes with a VBA sample that does this very thing. Map2globe.dwg
It is in the program files\autocad\samples\vba folder. I just tried it, pretty cool.
