Yes Open source can be modified by anyone, that's the benefit of it. A novice user can download OpenDCL & learn from it. A novice user can not upload there screwed up code to the OpenDCL/SourceForge site. An export user can download OpenDCL & fix bugs & add now features to it. Owen has done a great job at re-structuring the OpenDCL code to be more stable and easy for anyone to expand on it. Chad did a great job with ObjectDCL but he wrote it with only himself in mind, not a community in mind. The OpenDCL community is doing a great job supporting each other & the final result will be amazing.
third, I think on honest people who bought a licence of ObjectDCL an was opensource the day after.
The ObjectDCL site was down for 1.5 - 2 years, so no one bought a license the day before it went open source...
