VP Scale Gone Mad
« on: July 14, 2008, 05:40:21 PM »
Has anyone seen this before? Using AutoCAD 2008. It only happens in one particular drawing, which doesn't even have any XREF or Image. Tried auditing and there was no error in the drawing. It seems if I copy anything from this drawing to another drawing, the other drawing would have the same problem.

Thanks.

We're running 2008 here and that cleanup utility worked like a charm.

I don't know about going through all of that riggamarole....

I usually just do a 'SCALELISTEDIT' and then a 'RESET' and things are fine after that.

Thanks Randy. In drawings with that problem, if I type SCALELISTEDIT, I get an error. This command works fine in other drawings.

Do something like this and you will not see that error.

(command "-scalelistedit" "r" "y" "e")

The autcad site (the same utility that Luis posted) adds this note
NOTES:
Nested external references (xrefs) may produce excess scales. To correct this problem, install AutoCAD 2008 Service Pack 1 or corresponding service packs for AutoCAD-based products. The Scale List Cleanup Utility repairs files affected before the necessary service pack was installed.

That worked as well. Thank you Sir!

Thanks Bryco. We do have SP1 installed.

If you jhave a look at the error details, I think the scale list goes 'out of bounds' of the control on the form that's displayed, I need to do as ronjomp posted regularly to get around it.

Though the solutions posted by others work to some degree, I prefer mine, which I've just posted here.
