SID Files Exporting to World Tiff
« on: May 13, 2004, 12:40:18 PM »
I have map (.sid file) in arcview that is very high resolution. When I export the map to a geo referenced tiff file I lose resolution. Are there any tricks to exporting this file out with the same (or close to) resolution as the sid file?

Thanks,

Ron

I take it you're not using Map? Instead of using arcview to export it use ExpressView Browser Plugin (MrSID) and export as tiff, it should also make a world file.

Hi ye all,  newb here just reading through and learning bits of info... :D

ronjonp you mentioned "FYI....I learned today that vanilla Autocad 2002 will insert .sid files."

I used vanila "AutoCAD" and use SID maps , but my 2002 dosn't support the files with ext .SID.  Is there a add on for this?  How do I insert these maps into AutoCAD?

I used a DOS based decorder called: Mrsiddecoder.exe to convert MrSID maps into jpgs to insert into AutoCAD and this is working well for my needs.  But will be very interested in inserting SID maps into 2002.

I just tried inserting a sid file into 2005 with no luck. I must have had something installed that let me do it at that time.....but I don't know what it was :? .
