Please tell me what I need to do to be able to see the drawing in Model Space. The part looks good in the layout view but when I switch to model space I get nothing. This file was translated from a different 2D 3D modeling package. Thanks Drawing is attached. We are trying to open it in 2007 When I open it in 2004 it comes in ok. But not 2007.

I'm getting a fatal error in MEP2008 when I try to open it. Tried to recover but no go.
-
heh.. sorry, crashes my AUtocad.
-
Crude sorry about that. Thanks for tying
-
Try this file out Pleaseeeeeeeee
I opened it up in 2007 and save it as a 2007 dwg
If this crashes your machine I am sorry again. Thanks

newp.
Sorry man... still fatal. :(

nm, recover worked on the second file.

Call me goofy, but I don't see the difference between the display of the model through a viewport in layout, and the display of the geometry in model space?
-
Here's what I see, screenshot'd.

Did you have to do something with viewports or what not to get the model to display in Model Space?
I did a recover for the heck of it and now I get the part to look like I want in model space. This is getting weird I hate the translated drawings.
That is it. I guess the answer is to run recover on all of the translated files I get from this system. Thanks for the help

All I did was use 'recover' to open the file once I saved it. Cool, glad it works for ya, now.

I got this wit ACAD2000:
Unknown value "AC1018" encountered in drawing version.
Invalid or incomplete DXF input -- drawing discarded.
-
Late to the party and don't know if this will help but I created a new document from the original dxf file, junked paperspace in it's entirety (easy enough to recreate viewports et al) and purged all the extraneous layers etc.
Attached (2007 format).

How did you do all of this? Did you modify the DXF file?
-
I started with a pristine dwg (new with no template), inserted (exploded) the the original dxf file, and then nuked the superfluous stuff like paperspace, layers etc.
Should be noted that this technique will change entity handles. I saw nothing in the dxf file that suggested this would be a problem, but on drawings that are handle dependent (e.g. AutoPlant, Architectural desktop yada) it can have disastrous impacts upon linked intel.
To clarify though, no, I did not modify the original dxf file.

Sweet Thanks for the input and help
-
My pleasure, thanks.

FWIW,
I opened the dxf file no problem in ProgeCAD.
Nothing visible in paperspace at first; made a viewport and object appeared.
