Problem with drop-down...2K10
« on: September 04, 2009, 03:25:14 PM »
Have a question for the gurus out there.  We upgraded to 2K10 and I'm trying to figure out silly things like CUIs and custom toolbars....  Ran into something I can't figure out.  There isn't a UCS drop-down in 10...or I can't find it.  Like this:

How are these created?  As I'm a bit brain-dead with this stuff, how complicated would it be?  I would *like* to have this rather than a fly-out, but if this takes "programming", I'm gonna have to go with the latter.  Thanks gang....have a great Holiday weekend.  See you all on Tuesday....if I survive the BBQ!!!

It looks like you will be creating (or recreating) this toolbar.

Or be forced to adopt the Ribbon Mentality.

Thanks Michael...Kinder whut I figgerd....  I'll pass on the ribbons for now, thank you.  Just want this new workspace to look as much like the old as possible for now...have too much work to be re-learning AutoCAD.  When we get the time, I'll look into the *new* bells-n-whistles.

And it must be all so terribly intuitive.  (NOT)

otherwise how does one explain this wonderful document : http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=13252970&linkID=9240697

How do I customize the Ribbon?

AutoCADŽ Civil 2010
AutoCADŽ Civil 3DŽ 2010

Issue

You would like to customize the new Ribbon Interface to suit your needs.

Solution

For detailed instructions, search on the topic "Customize the Ribbon" in the Help menu.

Uh, people, if the Help menu was doing a decent job of explaining the process or concepts would we be looking here for MORE help than help has already provided?
You know what I'm saying???

[...]  There isn't a UCS drop-down in 10...or I can't find it.  [...]

What you are looking for is UCS Control.

Change in the CUI 'All Commands Only' to 'All Commands and Controls'.
Drag 'UCS Control' to your toolbar.

Another option is to use your old .CUI and compile that to CUIx, or use transfer for the things that you need.
