DXF Codes
« on: May 19, 2008, 05:17:11 PM »
Is there a DXF code that you can write your own string data to? I'm wanting to tag an entity so that I can find the entity later, even after closing and reopening the drawing. I wanted to use the USERS(1-5) system variables to create a list, but they don't seem to save with the drawing, even though the USERI and USERR variables do.

I've looked at both LData and XData, and LData looks more suitable for what I'm wanting to do. Tho there are some posts from back in the day that say to avoid LData because of problems crashing. The only problems I can find are from people moving drawings with LData from R14 to 2000. Are there any other problems? I run 2k6 using the 2000 DWG file format.
