Not sure what to do with this one.... (Drafting notation)
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:37:18 AM »
I have a drawing of a guitar pickup ring. At one of the dimensions, there is a "11,5 / 5,5". (This dimension is on the upper left hand corner.

What does the number after the "/", the "5,5" refer to?

My first thought was tolerance but that doesn't really make sense given the number.

Yeah. Throwing me for a loop.
Radius... maybe?

I bet you're right.  It doesn't look like it's drawn that way, at least on the 11.5/5.5 side, but the radius isn't dimensioned anywhere else.

I think I know what that is.

There are two different sizes for this pickup ring. I am willing to bet that the smaller number is for the more shallow of the two.

I base that on the fact that this drawing covers both the tall and short one and these would be the different dimensions for the short one from the tall one.

I'll run with that.

Thanks for looking into it.

Too big to be the radius I think.

a guess.... maybe you already figure that out...

the comma means a point, and the division is like between the two numbers to choose from.

Yup, that's what I went with and it seems to be holding up alright.

Thanks for the help everyone!
