C3D 2010 Tool Palettes
« on: July 07, 2009, 01:03:04 PM »
We are trying to get our 2010 set up to where it is functional.  When we go to our tool palette there is nothing in the Imperial or Metric tabs, we can do wood making if we would like but not anything to do with site design or roadways.  How do I fix this?  Also we created cutom assemblies in 2009, will these work in 2010 or are we going to have to rework them to have them funtionable? :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Doc; what have you done to your CUI?

I think you might be able to drag them onto your 2010 pallettes, once you get them back in order...

I have completely uninstalled it and reinstalled it.  Deleted all traces of 2010 before reinstalling and I am having the same problem on every computer in our office.  What I just read in another forum (Augi) is that many people are having the same problem.  The suggestion there is to load all the computer from the DVD's not from a network release.

I wonder if the network deployment needs to be tricked into installing it properly, by modifying the defaults...
the actual SOLUTION ...

Issue

You installed Civil 3D 2010 from a deployment created using DVDs. However, when you start the product, you noticed that the Tool Palettes Civil 3D subassemblies were missing.

When Civil 3D 2010 is installed as standalone, everything works as expected.

Solution

One way to resolve this issue is to copy the content of all the DVDs to new directory and create a new deployment by running setup.exe in the new directory on the hard drive. This will ensure that the deployment contains all files copied and the installation will be quicker.

If you prefer to not create a new deployment, you can manually copy the missing files and modify the deployment:

Copy the entire <Drive letter> i.e. D:\x86\C3D\CONTENT directory from DVD 2 into the ….AdminImage\x86\C3D directory to overwrite the existing Content folder.
Modify the deployment and proceed through the configuration steps to update your deployment.
Repair your installation of Civil 3D 2010, using Add or Remove Programs in the  Control Panel (Windows). Select the Reinstall option.
Start Civil 3D 2010 and confirm that tool palettes have subassemblies.
Be your Best
