(MicroStation) "Save Settings"
« on: May 20, 2009, 12:59:27 PM »
I'm confused on what the command does. (The index part of help shows nothing, search returns too many results)

Is it for saving the display pertaining to how toolbars are set/placed, as in how the screen looks?

or

Saving the settings of levels? on/off, overrides etc?

Thx's

From the help file

Save Settings
Saves settings in the active design file. This option is enabled only if the “Save Settings on Exit” preference is set to off in the Operation category of the Preferences dialog box (Workspace > Preferences). This allows you to save settings at will, as they are not automatically saved when you exit the file.

Saved settings include settings controlled through settings boxes and the view configuration (the arrangement of views on the screen and the areas of the design plane displayed in the views). However, user preferences, B-spline , plotting, and rendering settings are not saved.

Tread lightly with the "save settings on exit" option.  It does not always work.  Your best bet is to use CTRL+F or File->Save Settings.  And as jvillarreal said it is mainly just toolbar layouts on the screen and views like fit view.

It is pretty much anything that is not saved or set in your user preference file or your configuration files.
