Is it possible to send an email with AutoCAD (Lisp / Macros) that you could click from the email and it would activate in their current session of CAD? I know this sounds crazy.
-
sure, as long as they have autocad, and their file associativity in windows isn't fubbed up
if you are talking about clicking on email attachment, it should work....let me test here and report

Not sure I understand the question but.
Command: START
Application to start: outlook

Does this make more sense?

Does this make more sense?
yes..
and NO
that isn't going to do anything within cad
unless copy and paste to command line
-
interesting idea, however...
IF you are trying to do cad by remote control for someone like that
should they really be using cad?
-
Then, I guess that's all I need to do. I have some users that I have a menu I have made for them, but I have some non CAD heavy duty users where I could email them some of these commands and just have then copy and paste them to the command line. I guess that's still not a bad idea.
-
Wouldn't a remote desktop app make more sense then?
-
shared cui (enterprise) should take care of that....if/when they restart the new items would appear
-
I have been doing that. Just not the manager here. lol

this loop is closed

AutoCAD 2015 and up can host HTML pages, wpf , and other type of documents so for example you could use AutoCAD javascript API to interact with AutoCADS through webpage or email

shades of the abandoned TODAY PAGE
why you kill this autodesk!

Geesh never thought of that either... Gotta look into it

We use a training software here that allows you to create a workflow and in the workflow you can assign AutoCAD commands to a particular word or phrase. Once the command is assigned, the selected word or phrase will then "hyperlink" to AutoCAD, either to open the program or run a particular command in the software.
Long story longer....
Like others have said, it's definitely possible.

This is interesting... Could you elaborate alittle more on this? It is a neat idea.

I'm not sure how it works on the back end but for example...
I can tell the user to Save the Drawing and the text will be highlighted blue and underlined. The user can then CLICK on the blue text and as long as AutoCAD is active, ^C^Cqsave will run. It works a lot like a hyperlink. We can even assign the selected word or phrase to OPEN a certain program.
For example:
Run TBC would open Trimble Business Center (TBC) when clicked on by the user.
I'm sorry I'm not more versed in the workings but this is the basic premise. Hope it helps.
