Frame Height - Another Part Builder Question
« on: December 30, 2010, 09:06:35 PM »
I want to modify the sizes for the frame cylinder height on the cylindrical structure slab top circular frame, but cannot figure out how. I have found the value in size parameters and it says I have to modify it via the model parameters so I went to edit it there, but it doesn't seem to allow editing either... Please help. :-)

If I recal the frame cylinder height is controlled by a claculation, (you would need to change that math)...let me look.

Also why not tell your boss I'm available for a short term work assignment...and lets make a profit on this job shall we?   ;-)

I found it! It's the SFH value. I think I just had to hilight it before it gave me the option to edit. I thought I did that earlier, but...

yeah the boss wouldn't do it i'm sure. i wish he would, but... well... we don't actually have the contract on it yet. it's waiting for the big man to sign off on after being approved by all other department heads. the city has been draggin @$$ on their projects bad over the last year though so...

at least i'm having fun in the meantime!

you would want to alter the value...or add a formula in the second hilighted column

or the one two to the right  (OOPS)

don't make me come out there.... :pissed:     ;-)

it may be too late for you...however it is suggested that one should COPY the entire part family, to a new family prior to localizing the part family dimensions

So you would have the Original Part Family...
and then the City of Jacksonville Structures with Frames Family

this way you still have the generic structures, and the COJ versions

I have set up a part list for coj. Does that count?

I was late today and wanted to catch up on hrs. Had to finish fixing our hot water heater this am.

You know I get into this c3d stuff though. It becomes total immersion when I dig my feet in the dirt. Wish the rest of the company were the same.

Amen brother...I'm in it up to my neck most of the time.
And the sentiment you express is probably reason number one; I work best as a contractor.

Who's your part builder? Was that a pitch to build our parts? You know you could build a coj template and sell it. I would if I had the part builder smarts. I'm sure I could do it if I really got motivated and dedicated, but I don't have enough interest I guess...

It's a pitch to help you folks remotely in any way I can.
I'd need the local criteria...I think there is a way we could work something out....it just takes a little imagination.

Why is it that after modifying part dims in part builder (as I just did earlier) I have to swap the part out with itself? Why doesn't it just modify all instances of the part in the dwg after modifying it in part builder?
