Network / File System Gurus:
Does anyone know of a reason why it would be taking so long to display the contents of this particular folder? Every other folder I open up is fine. There's no lag time at all. The only thing I can think of is that there are over 22,500 files in the Drawings directory. There's one other directory that has about 8,000 files, but all the rest hold fewer. Is there something that AutoCAD 2004 does to maybe scan the directory to see how many dwg files might be in it? ***That wouldn't make sense because it doesn't do this 'scan' on the O:\ drive itself***. Might I be getting this LAG because of the Windows Indexing service? I don't know...I can't think of anything else and this is really, really getting to me. I have to browse this directory quite often.
Do I need to ask IT for more ram (currently 512)? What freaking gives?!?!?!?
