.ctb file unrecognized
« on: February 02, 2010, 01:03:19 PM »
I've got some plot styles from a local city, .ctb files.

I can't get these .ctb files to shot up in my plot style table when I print....when I try to edit the .ctb files, they tell "unrecognized version and cannot be read" I click ok, another window opens and says, "syntax", I click ok, another window opens and says "could not load file".

Anyone have ever any issues like this?

Well, we are still in 09, the City, whom we got the .ctb files from are in 2010, but they say all their standards are in 2009.....I can't imagine a .ctb would care what version you're in.....also, we do have 2010 installed on one machine, and I couldn't get them to show up on the print screen on that machine either.....file attached, I think...

there must be something about it...compare the file size(s) to your working CTB files

Yeah, tell me about it...ours are anywhere from 5 to 7.

I just figured they've edited more colors from the default settings

I wonder if someone took some other filetype and renamed its extension.  Filename.dwg > filename.ctb

Don't laugh... I've met people who thought that would be a fine thing to do.

DING DING DING, we have a winner!

It's a drawing file.

It contains 4 text styles, a few dozen layers, and not much else.  One text object.

Someone at the city made a bit of a blunder.

and probably a named page setup...that uses their desired CTB (if they used the file we started in class together)

I just thought 45K seemed to be about the size of a .dwg file.  Lucky guess.  :)

If you look at theSwamp as a toolbox, there are all kinds of tools in it and each of them has their use.  Some tools are more ... multi-purpose than others, but they all have their time to shine. :)

Today, YOU'RE the shiny tool, man!
