If you read the registry entry for AutoCAD under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE there is a SerialNumber key.

i.e.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.0\ACAD-201:409\SerialNumber

Let me guess, you're tying your software licencing scheme to the AutoCAD serial number.

Nope...
In fact I mange license for our cie..

but some of my workmate have formatted a laptop containing a standalone license.
but he forget to get the serial number before doing this.

The problem is:
By chance, He have made a Ghost of this laptop but it will take to much time to remake a ghost of this current laptop re-install the old one, see the serial and re-install the new ghost ....see ?

so whit the GHO file you can see all file without re-installing the ghost.....but you can not see the windows registry.

Depending upon the version, there is a file in the AutoCAD root folder called  RegInfoxxxx.xxx some installations produce a text file while some produce an html page. It will contain the serial number and authorization code, it will not contain the CD Key even if one is required.

Also look for a file called acadbtn.xmx in AutoCAD root and open it in wordpad. The serial number should be in there. If you happen to know the first 3 digits of the number do a search.

I think the stipulation "Without opening AutoCAD" kinda prevents that ... I think the installation is on an old hard drive that was removed from a computer and now they don't know which serial number was installed on the computer previously.
