Is there a way to use text and attributes that use the tilde on top of a letter, for example Canon City Colorado, where the n in Canon has the tilde above it?

You should be able to hit cntrl+shift+tilde then hit N.

That's only possible if your font supports it with a special character.

If you're using Mtext you can.  Get into your mtext editor, right click, a dialog box appears, select symbol then other.  Character map dialog box will appear, check the advanced view and type in tilde under the search for.  You should be able to make it work from there. :)

the cntrl+shift+tilde then hit N works in mtext, but doesn't work when editing attributes.

Any one know how to do it in the attribute editor?

It works with dtext too. Make sure the text style you are using in the attribute supports that character. I just tested it here with an attributed block and it worked fine.

All tested in acad2005 with Arial font

The font does support the tilde, but I still can't get it to work in an attribute edit. I am using LDD2, maybe that is it.

I assume you have tried both methods of entry.
1. %%126
2. [Alt]126  Hold the alt key down & with the keypad type 126 then release

Yup, tried that. I don't have a problem, unless it is in my attributes. Could it be my titleblock (which is the attribute I am trying to edit)?

Have you verified that the font is what you think it is?
Does it display nothing or another character?
Have you tried copy from a text object & past in the attedit?
