Title: Need more info on "Property Field Modifiers" in labels
Post by: Mark on August 01, 2007, 09:15:11 AM
I'm trying to change the way bearing labels are displayed and I'm looking for more information. So far all I've found in the documentation is under "Property Field Modifiers" but it doesn't list all the modifiers(?) that show-up in the editor.

For example, given the text
Code: [Select]
<[Tangent Direction(Udeg|FDMSdSp|MB|P4|RN|DSn|CU|AP|OF)]>what does the 'M' or all of the lower case characters mean?

What I want is => N 01°40'34" W
not => N01° 40' 34"W or => N01°40'34"W

thanks

I see the same options there and no way to change it, at least none that I can see.

Another problem has arisen now. After changing "Direction" under "Drawing Settings --> Ambient Settings" to "long name" my Line labels show NORTH00°00'00"EAST, which is correct(?) but changing Direction back to "short name" doesn't affect the labels now. I'm stuck with "long name" now.

I think your label is overriding the ambient setting.  In the label composer choose the course component from the list of elements.  You can specify the bearing display option there under format.

for the long name problem go back to the settings and make sure to apply the change and then select OK

I did that like three times, even closed and reopened the dwg. I fixed it by pasting the format from a text file I had.

Not really, I've already tried that, but thanks for the screen shot. There "spaced" isn't the same as mine. :)

What I want .... N<space>01°40'34"<space>W what I get ... N01°<space>40'<space>34"W, two different animals.

thanks Dino

I've never seen that one with spaces between everything.  I am still on 2007 so it may be a 2008 "enhancement".

You're right ... I must have had a brain fart or something.

Neither have I. That's what I'm trying to change. I see no way to edit the "format".

It appears they have changed the definition of the format and I don't think there is a way to edit that else we could take care of the leading zero fiasco ourselves too.

Crap! That's right I forgot about the leading zero problem. Looks like it's back to my labels then.

I just set it and got no leading zeros....

I think he is trying to get a space after that N and before the E without any spaces between the d m s numbers.  This was an option with 2007 but 2008 throws in the extra spaces.

THAT looks like what I think he is looking for . . . I have just GOT to load up my 2008 trial into a virtual machine again to see what other mischief Manchester was up to last year.

But that's the problem we use the leading zeros.
